I was thrilled to find a company here in Oregon that made yarn swifts. I don't really care for the umbrella style that you see everywhere. I was a little apprehensive about the stability of the swift staying put on the table, but felt confident in the generous return policy, so I ordered it. I received it very quickly. I LOVE it. Works great! Easy to set up and use. The electronic counter works in both directions, which is nice. Without thinking about it, my wife went in the opposite direction as me when she tried it, but it didn't matter, it still counted the same.

My youngest daughter bought a Mama bear yarn swift at the Black Sheep Festival in Eugene, Oregon. She allowed me to use it when I needed to. She has moved out & taken her swift & ball winder with her!:( I knit quite often 7 & was tired of hand winding yarn balls while holding skeins on my feet, so I purchased my OWN Mama Bear yarn swift & ball winder!! I found this product through a google search for yarn winders. I was drawn to the swift because of the unique design (not an umbrella style), and that it is handmade and produced in America. It arrived within a few short days, and I used it immediately. I love it!!! It works great, looks great, and is very compact for storage when not in use.

After my favorite lavender WoolMix stopped being distributed in the US, I luckily found Friendly Products' Sweater Soap. I use it for everything--especially my laundry (as I am sensitive to excessive scents and certain detergents). I highly recommend it. I only wish it came in a much larger container.

Growing up I had the best yarn swift in the world. My father patiently would offer his arms and we shared great stories throughout the years. I no longer have my special "swift", so I recently purchased a "Mama Bear" cherry yarn swift. It has been skillifully crafted. Best swift ever. Yarn rarely tangles and any size skein has fit. Any table works. Best prices anywhere. Have used mine for at least 5 years and it's still in perfect condition. I always see the "accordian" ones tied together with yarn and string because the hinges break. Also the hinges grab the yarn.

I have been borrowing one from my friend. We got it at Stitches West 2 years ago and I decided it was time to get my own. I find it much more efficient then the standard accordian type and yarn does not get tangled as easily.

Mama Bear was at my door when I got home last night. I opened it this morning, put it together and wound 6 skeins of alpaca. By the second ball I almost had the rhythm and by the 6th I worked great!! The Mama Bear Swift is a work of art in itself. I'm very pleased with the quality and the dealings with The Oregon Woodworker. The Teal bag is great, too.

The yaarn swift is simplicity itself. I tried it right after I got it, and it does a wonderful job. The ball winder needs a little care attaching it to a round table, but once attached, makes a very nice ball of yarn.

This is the smoothest moving swift that I have used. There was no catching of the yarn on the ends of the arms or collapsing of the unit. It handled different hank sizes with ease. Easy to put together and stores nicely.

I received my Mamma Bear yarn swift a few days ago, and I LOVE it! I did a lot of research before purchasing this product and I am so glad that I chose this one. I really like the fact that it is made of wood. The design of this swift is ingenious - simple, efficient, and functional. I have wound up about 15-20 skeins of yarn so far. The Mama Bear has worked on all kinds and weights of yarn - from organic cotton to fuzzy acrylic. I was even able to use the Mama Bear to work with a large skein of yarn that had gotten twisted and tangled up.(The tangling had occurred a long time ago.) I LOVE my yarn swift! I couldn't believe how easy it was to put together, how smoothly it worked, and how pretty it is. It's so small when taken apart--essential for my tiny apartment. And the wool bag is lovely and well-made. I couldn't be more pleased. I first saw the swifts at Stitches West but didn't stop by the booth because I didn't think I needed/wanted one (I have enough knitting stuff taking up space). After Stitches, I heard people on Ravelry talking about how great the Mama Bear is and--magic words!--that it doesn't take up much space. I was sold, but the swift surpassed my expectations.

This is my first swift, BUT, I have no intentions to try another! It works perfectly and in combination with the royal ball winder, I get a perfect center pull ball every time! Lovely product for a nice price! I also upgraded to the cherry and it's beautiful.

I received my swift and ball winder today. After 10 minutes I was up and running. In 45 minutes I had wound 2 skeins of sock yarn (approx 380 yrds apiece) and 220 yards of Cascade 220. Spins smooth and is perfectly balanced. Thanks for a wonderful product!

I just finished winding several hanks of lace weight merino on my new walnut Mama Bear swift! I was thrilled with the way it did not pull on the yarn - it fed the delicate yarn to the ball winder with no added tension. The walnut wood is gorgeous, and it is such a pretty contraption that I will probably leave it sitting out much of the time. The thing I like most is that you do not have to clamp it. My kitchen counters are too thick for most clamps, and the tables that are thin enough are good wood that I do not want clamped! The clamp is always the first thing that breaks, anyway. This swift is very well made, there is nothing to break, and it looks like it will last for years. I will recommend it to all my knitting friends!

I bought my Mama Bear about a year ago and have had complement after complement about how versatile this tool is! I love how easy it is to setup, adjust to any skein length, and how compact it is to store.
